Shiva
This went through a few incarnations. It's a representation of Lord Shiva the destroyer of the universe. Shiva is nearly always associated with serpents, and to follow the order of the rest of the wall I decided to use another animal to represent him. The sacred syllable AUM is in his eye, a sound which signifies the beginning, duration, and end of all things. The fire, damaru (sacred drum), and trishula (trident) are all considered Shiva's weapons. The fire and damaru are both associated with the form of Shiva, Nataraja, the Cosmic Dancer. The fire burns and consumes everything while the damaru provides the beat, the pulse of the universe. Finally the trishula represents Shiva's triumph over the three times, of body, speech, and mind, and his powers of will, knowledge, and action. The waning crescent moon symbolizes the universe coming to an end, though a new moon is soon to follow. The eye in the moon represents Shiva's third eye of wisdom which sees all, past, present, and future.
